Pride.  Let’s take a moment to look at this.

It can be a great motivator.  I take great pride in my work.  I strive to get as close to perfection as I can.  Every challenge I face I take care to make sure to do it correctly the first time.  Sure, my pride gets hurt.  I miss a step, I forget to follow up on something.  But, I move on.  At the end of the day I know that my pride isn’t worth two cents to anyone else but me.

Now there are those who take their pride too seriously.  They put too much stock into the weight of their pride.  Anything that challenges them, that doesn’t conform to their narrow field of ideology, they refuse.  To them these things don’t even exist.

Pride will be their downfall.

So as we here in the US celebrate our festive 4th of July weekend I will take a deeper look into myself.  Find the threads of pride that threaten to poison my heart, and cut them
