Sucking sharp teeth.
Cursing the world.

High pitched keening,
deafening those too close.
Driving us mad.

I try to smother the noise.
Drown it in a sea of heavy tones.
Words slither in.

Oily tendrils
slipping into my ears.
The chaotic thrum of laughter.

No matter how far I run,
I’m always brought back.
Trapped in this prison.

As the days progress,
and the seconds drag,
I feel terror settle in.
