Sun shining through the leaves

It’s fingers brushing my cheeks

The warmth lost to a passing cloud

Though it returns,

It’s not the same.

The memory still remains.

I wish I never met you

The wind races across the water

Blowing a cooling mist into my face

Smooth stone bites into my feet.

All I feel is the bitter chill.

The beauty before me,

Dulled in the memory of yesterday.

I wish I never met you

Maybe then I would have never missed you
