I could follow you to the edge of the world

Hold your hand as we stare down into the abyss

We could find our eternity there

In the starless night

Falling into the melody of the shadows

Let them lull us to that endless sleep

Where there is only

You and I

Me and you

Us

If only

You’d see me

But you do

See me

Right?

Just today you held my gaze,

As you walked to your seat

You tried to hide it

The small smile lurking at the corner of your mouth

You tried to hide

But I saw

I always see

If only

If only

If only

You would see

You will see

I can open your eyes

I will

Author’s Note:

Stalker stories have always given me goosebumps. It’s all too easy to place yourself in the role of the victim. To feel the hairs on the back of your neck raise. The all consuming feeling of eyes on you.

For this poem I took inspiration from what it would be like on the other side of that. Putting the voice in the mouth of the stalker for this piece. Not an all together original idea, with many media options out there with the same premise. I didn’t expect how oily it would feel, bleh.
